I inhabit the intersection of art, science, and technology as a site for weaving relationships and complexity rather than producing objects. My work takes the form of interactive media art, immersive cinema, XR, bioart, performance, and open documentary in the shape of installations that go beyond the screen. Ecosystems where humans, non-humans, technologies, and environments interact. I think of them as narratives of engagement, processes in which meaning leaks, mutates, and proliferates by osmosis, always in flux, never stable, never domesticated.
I have received awards and recognitions, including the prestigious international S+T+Arts for Social Good Award (2021) in Art, Science, and Technology.
My works have been selected for the Ars Electronica Festival (Linz) in 2022, 2020, and 2019, and exhibited internationally in various museums and festivals, including York Art Gallery (UK), Musrara Mix Festival – Jerusalem, Palazzo Mora – Venice Biennale 2017, Speculum Artium Festival – Slovenia, In/visiblecities – Gorizia, Festival Internazionale Castel dei Mondi – Andria (IT), Prix Italia 2016 – Lampedusa and Museo di Lampedusa (IT), Fondazione 107 – Turin (IT), Circolo del Design – Turin (IT), and Maker Art Fair Rome (IT). Apnea is also available on the RAI Play VR app. I am one of the Italian women featured in the Women in Media Arts database by Ars Electronica.
On the academic side, I am Full Professor in Multimedia Art Theory at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti of Turin, where I teach Digital Cultures, Virtual Reality and Complexity Paradigms, Digital Applications 2, Net-Art, and (from 2024) Interactive Systems.
I also serve as Adjunct Professor at the Politecnico di Torino (Cinema and Media Engineering + DIST), where I teach Interactive Media and Immersive Cinema.
At the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, I am Contract Lecturer in Multimedia Design, while at the Civica Scuola di Cinema “Luchino Visconti” in Milan, I teach Multimedia and Immersive Documentary and Open Documentary (VR/XR and installations – Direction and Screenwriting).
At the University of Turin – DAMS, I lecture in Performance and Augmented Reality, and in 2023/24 I also taught Interactive Systems at the Accademia Statale di Belle Arti di Verona.
I’m also co-director of Officine Sintetiche (www.officinesintetiche.it), a media art platform that brings together academics, artists, scientists, and technologists to create events, conferences, performances, installations, and workshops.
In the past, I served as Teaching Associate and Visiting Researcher at Brunel University, London (Centre for Contemporary and Digital Performance, DAP Lab). I hold a Master’s Degree from the Interface Culture Program at Kunstuniversität Linz (Austria), where I deepened my research at the intersection of media art, technology, and narrative practices.
Beyond artistic practice, I work as a producer and curator. For example I was Executive Producer for the Catalonia and Balearic Islands Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2011, and since 2019 I have curated the VR section Presence. Immersive Experiences at the Sottodiciotto Film Festival, presented every year at the Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino.
Since 2020, I have lived in a co-housing community near Turin (IT), a shared ecosystem of gardens, compost rituals, and collective care that has rewired my narrative and expanded my imagination. Here, art reveals itself as a multispecies choreography, inseparable from living, and is animated by a political and ecological conviction: that art, entangled with communities and ecosystems, actively participates in the urgent task of changing the world.
This experience directly nourishes my current research: since 2025, I have been a PhD Candidate at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, where I explore the entanglement of art, political and sociological sciences, and technology. My focus is on alternative systems of governance and decision-making, approached not only as theoretical constructs but as lived, embodied processes of co-existence, where art acts as a transformative catalyst for ecological, social, and multispecies alliances.
